Activity 1.5 Wind
Read Step 5 ‘Wind’ in the Site Assessment for Gardeners workbook.
If you choose to complete this as your optional activity, consider/do the following:
- If you have any have fences or other wind buffers around your property this exercise may not offer dramatic results, but it is still important to consider the wind in all seasons and its effects on your garden.
- Download and print the blank wind chart (in pdf or excel, below) and record your findings for 1 day this week. Note the sample data is in red.
- Upload the chart along with your site sketch in Assignment One. The value of this activity is in documenting the readings over a period of time. On your site map, note where you put your flags with an ‘X’ and number them according to your chart. Return to the same spots as you repeat this exercise during different times of the year.
