Hi Everyone, I'm Jonathan. I am a Job Coach by profession and a gardener for passion. I started Gardening back in 2016 loving the idea that I could put seeds in the ground and it would reward me with free vegetables. That first year I started tomatoes and squash indoors using paper pots. After a month I placed them in direct sun from morning until evening and killed everything. I knew at that point I had some learning to do!

In 2018 my brother helped me build my first garden bed. I successfully grew 8 tomato plants that year. I had so many tomatoes I was giving them away to family and neighbors. Over time I have expanded my garden and folks in my community look forward to me sharing the harvest. Recently I have taken interest in creating a healthy ecosystem within my garden space. I am happy to say I have Monarch caterpillars, lady bugs, and fire fly larva that all utilize my growing space.

I joined this program for many reasons. Of course there is always something new to learn and methods to refine. I can't say I am interested in just 1 or 2 topics. I always have questions ranging from soil type to plant biology and more. I am most excited to teach folks in the community that are interested in learning. I know that cities tend to be challenging areas to garden. As a resident of Syracuse this will give me the opportunity to be a resource for my community.A Monarch Caterpillar on a Milkweed leaf.

Hi Jonathan, I also look forward to learning more about soil and the impact it has on plant growth. I look forward working with you this year. Amy
