Dear cohort members -

Hi all - hope you are doing well!

Thanks for continuing to plug through the resources and your projects amongst all of the other things going on in life.  I'll continue to send along little incentives along the way - reach Level 6 and I'll send you a nametag, level 9 and I'll send Design for How People Learn, from my favorite instructional design writer, Julie Dirksen or an audible credit if you prefer.

Welcome to our new PDLC group from Suffolk County.  I had a great time connecting with each of you last week! July team - look for new names in the discussions.  You can reply to them as well - or just observe.  While I tried putting our newest cohort members into a group of their own, I have not yet mastered that skill and ended up with some issues...so enjoy each other's company :) and I'll continue to grow and learn and practice in that capacity.

We do have some of our July Cohort members working on final project write up.  The equation for finishing PDLC (instructions for all of this are in our shared Google Folder https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bZ2sw_k3h8KFzsPFY653miLtdi_9T6Z4?usp=sharing (also findable in the "helpful links" section on our Moodle:

Matt was talking today about DEIJ strategies.  I took a great class in inclusive science learning recently, offered from Dr. Bruce Lewenstein at Cornell. https://cals.cornell.edu/bruce-v-lewenstein - read lots of papers and research about science learning for diverse audiences.  One of my favorite conceptual (and readable :) reports was  The State of Inclusive Science Communication: A Landscape Study  - it is worth a regular review for any of us.

Congrats to:

  • Melissa + Meghan - you are our our most recent coffee card winner this week :) Expect to see that soon.

Look for my check-in form in your e-mail on Monday :) Keep investing time in your professional development and reflecting on things you are learning.  You guys are awesome!
