Submit 4.1 Deepening Relationships Journal Activity Prompt
In the videos from Section 4.1, community garden leaders emphasize the importance of getting to know your neighbors, and participating in other community initiatives. Amelia from Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments (VINES), lists additional committees, events and community organizations that she participates on to strengthen relationships and outreach on behalf of VINES.
Take a moment to reflect on how you are an asset to the community garden. List some committees, organizations and community initiatives that you participate in that help to position you as a community leader and advocate for your community garden. With each example, share how this position benefits the garden. If you are not currently involved in this capacity, reflect on how you may be able to strengthen the garden’s network by participating in other projects by identifying one opportunity in your neighborhood and the ways in which this new relationship can be beneficial to the garden.
