Developing Purpose: Harlem Grown Case Study

Harlem Grown is a non-profit urban farm and community garden that has been contributing to urban agriculture in New York City for over a decade. In 2023, Harlem Grown reported revenue of $5,258,449 -- majority of which was earned through programming and contributions. In addition to generating substantial revenue, Harlem Grown continues to have a meaningful impact in the local Harlem community. Please watch the “11 Years of Impact | Harlem Grown” (2022) video to learn more about the origins of the organization. As you watch the video, identify which type of garden Harlem Grown is and try to identify what draws community members to this space.
