Portfolio Review
Portfolio Review: For the last part of the course I will review your portfolios.
You should have prepared a finalized electronic or "paper" portfolio of six completed and mounted plant studies in a range of media examined and rendered during the course.
The following guidelines are going to be considered during review for either type of portfolio:
- Degree of botanical detail
- Accurate color-matching
- Use of the medium
- Placement of the specimen on the page
- Overall design.
Your portfolio should provide viewers with a clear idea as to what your vision is. It should be organized by subjects or different styles. Horizontal and vertical images, as well as different size prints should be organized and grouped separately. Keep in mind, portfolios are never actually complete. There are always new samples to add, new skills to highlight, and less effective samples to remove or replace.
The level of creativity and professional design in your overall presentation is a key consideration of the review. The degree of continuity and organization will also be assessed. A significant aspect of your evaluation will depend on the creativity of your final portfolio.
If you created a "paper" portfolio, the best way to submit is to take high quality digital photographs of the portfolio, uploaded as jpg files. Take a photo of the overall and individual. Evaluation is based not just on the content, but also the overall presentation, creativity and design.
