Sometimes I find that it takes me awhile to settle into an illustration or painting, and then when I do, it is all I want to do.  But getting there is occasionally a challenge.

I often have steps I follow to get into the mood to draw, if I have been busy and have not found the time.  Admittedly, I need to have the laundry done, the house (somewhat) clean, or I will procrastinate by attending to those mundane details.  An important preparatory step is that I always try to have a piece in progress; it keeps me active, since the "blank white page" stage can be daunting.  I try to begin a piece almost as soon as I complete one, so that there is always one to be working on.

Do you find that you have mental steps that prepares you for the creative process?  Reflect on what happens prior to illustrating, and how to foster that sense of settling into your work.
