The Spotted Lanternfly or SLF, Lycorma delicatula , is an invasive planthopper native to Asia. It was first discovered in the United States in 2014 in Berks County, Pennsylvania.  Its eggs are thought to have hitched a ride on a shipment of stone from China. Since then it has spread to at least 16 states including New York.
