New forms for participant and committee member demographic data collection are now available.  The changes are small and build better alignment with the USDA options for registrants.   The new forms include options for registrants to "not disclose" demographics and options to self-report more than one race.  While this change does not represent all demographic categories, it is a step in the direction of allowing individuals to better represent themselves. The change will affect the event registration, program development, and reporting.  We will be offering a soft roll-out beginning this summer with informational meetings and access to virtual office hours beginning in August.  An FAQ and web resources are available to support staff.

Reporting form templates may be useful to you. How you collect data and how often you enter it into PD&R is a local decision.  Be sure to discuss this with your local Executive Director or program lead before beginning to manage data.  The forms shown in PDR are the "minimum options" for demographic categories to be compliant.  The minimal options include: allowing participants to self-report (don't guess for them), allowing "choose not to respond" as an option, and allowing participants to choose all of the races that represent them.  You may add more options locally for race, gender, and ethnicity but you will need to translate those options for end-of-the-year data reporting.
