Color can enliven and ennervate your botanical illustrations, but require practice, and patience

This lesson takes the techniques and ideas we have learned to this date to apply them to creating illustrations in color.

We have worked so far in pencil, pen and charcoal. We already worked with some color with pen/ink. This week's lesson introduces two types of media - colored pencil and watercolor.  Watercolor is likely a 're-introduction' for those of you who took the second course in this suite.  This will be a chance to go further.

We find that students very much enjoy the process of learning the techniques, and then when faced with applying those techniques with color, they can get frustrated. Try to keep the openness, enthusiasm and the energy you have maintained through the earlier exercises!

We will walk you through steps to progress toward completing a botanical illustration with colored pencil and watercolor.
