Optional: About Cornell Cooperative Extension
About Cornell Cooperative Extension
Cornell Cooperative Extension is part of the national Cooperative Extension network. Like the work done by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency, extension agents are typically available to serve farmers and gardeners in every county in the United States. In New York, Cornell University is the land-grant institution, and Cornell Cooperative Extension provides extension services across the state. Other states’ land-grant institutions provide these services in their states.

This map from the USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) shows all the land-grant institutions in the U.S. Land-grant extension programs can be a great partner for the USDA. This detailed map is a little hard to see here, but you can download the full version on NIFA's website.
Extension services can often be limited in urban areas, but
in New York, Cornell Cooperative Extension has been supporting urban growers for decades. We have employees on the ground in New York City and in urban
centers across New York state to provide technical assistance and facilitate
research for commercial growers and urban gardeners. This training was informed
by Cornell’s experienced team of urban agriculture extension agents, educators,
and partners.
