iPhone vs. Camera & Flash for portfolio

Hi all! I wanted to share different methods of photographing my work. 

I've used my iPhone to take photos for assignments because it's quick and easy, but I know that iPhones do a lot of processing automatically, and the lighting is uneven. Today I set up my mirrorless camera and flash to start taking photos for my portfolio. 

I did some post-processing on the camera photo: edited out my writing, used a gray card to set the white balance, used a color card to set a color profile, and used the "levels" tool to set the background as white. 

Here is the result! What do you think of the differences?

Hi Theresa,
First of all -your paintings of Wild Indigo are lovely -and both the copies are similar-somehow the mirrorless camera colors seem warmer? less saturated maybe? than the Iphone. What is a mirrorless camera?

Hi, I agree with Caroline about the mirrorless camera vs iPhone. And I really like this painting, especially the composition (both in its geometric form and in the way you show the different stages of opening of the pods) and use of greys and browns with the orangish seeds. We (or at least I) sometimes forget that everything doesn't have to in bright colors to be pleasing.
