My true passion

Hi everyone,

This is Nastia, and I have a bunch of hobbies and things I like to do. But I’m sure that gardening is my true passion. Even though we live in a pretty cold climate - I garden 12 months per year (thanks to hydroponics and plans I start very early). I mostly - 99% - grow food, and sometimes I sprinkle flower seeds here and there for pollinators. I would love to learn how to attract more beneficial insects to my garden.

Gardening not only brings me joy, but it also calms my nerves. This spring I was accepted to FLCC and decided to take 5 classes with 15 credits total. I have to say this is too much with a full-time job and taking care of our new home. If not for my wonderful colleagues, my husband, and nice professors - I would drop classes.

How does this connect to gardening? Yesterday, when I hit a burnout point, I crawled to my seedstarting corner and simply started to work with soil. For some reason I decided to transplant my violas to individual cells and start some brassicas. Just an hour for the reset and voila - I’m good as new. Ready to hit another ENG-101 chapter (😭)

I can’t wait to learn more about gardening during this course and spend more time with you guys, exchanging experience.

See you soon,

Nastia

P.S. Bonus points for those who can find my cat's gardening with me :)

Very nice photos Nastia. Thanks for sharing! And yes, I did find your cats! Five classes, full-time work and the master gardener volunteer training is a lot! Let's hope you don't get burnt out! That said, i'm glad gardening brings you joy. We'll talk more about pollinator gardening for sure. Maybe that can be your final project!

These are some awesome photos, and I feel inspired to remember to take more photos! Your workload has me tired just thinking about it. I'm glad working wth soil has proven to allow you to take on such a massive workload. I wish you luck in your studies. Excited to learn and grow together over the next few months!
