Hi! I'm Robin. I moved to Malone, NY after about 24 years moving around with my husband and two kids with the Army, and I worked as an occupational therapist for most of that time. But now we are retired and my kids are out of the house. So, until now I haven't had the time or consistency to really become a "grower". We own 6+ acres and I'm looking to grow veggies, flowers and a permaculture edible garden. We also raise sheep and goats. I am much more into veggies than flowers, but who doesn't love flowers? The three things I love most about gardening:

1. I get a big kick out of proving my own food.

2. I like to bring fresh flowers into the house.

3. I love being outside all day and I am no good at sitting.

I have done a lot of reading, but I only have about 5 years (cumulative) with gardening, and only two or three years in this climate, so I'm looking forward to learning a lot more!

Hi Robin,
I can’t wait to hear more about your future project, it sounds like a perfect retirement plan. I just retired and moved to Malone and like you am really interested in learning more about gardening in the cold. And the fact that you have sheep and goats is so cool.
See you on Saturday!

Hey Robin! I think we spoke briefly at at Women of Agriculture event (bowling?) and I remember thinking that what you're doing was so interesting.
We want to do sheep someday too, but I'm worried about the time commitment.
Looking forward to chatting more in person!

Hi Robin,
Growing your own food, I'd love to hear what veggies you're growing and how this newish climate is different than where you used to live. I experimented with growing tomatoes this summer and had some success, but am a huge fan of rhubarb!
See you tomorrow, Erika
