As I look at my yard of about 1 acre of cultivated land, I see beyond it is 50% invasive species like the Japanese Barberry and Honeysuckle. There are 2 tree of heaven and I know will sprout more. I can only take out the plants growing in my yard so what to do about the invading species from other yards? I can’t do much but educate. I will do for the future is plant more native plants like Joe Pyle weed and Bee Balm.

I have this issue as well. Probably maybe most of us do. My neighborhood has a FB page. Another way to communicate with neighbors is through Next Door (it’s neighborhood based). I have been posting (using Google AI) summaries of a)how the problem will only get worse- bigger, more, weak roots and resulting damage b) the relationship between ailanthus and spotted lantern flies ) c) the economic fallout from ignoring the issue. I also refer my Arborist and why what he does is a bit different from common knowledge, and knows the correct strength and application, etc.,d) I also post what not to do.

I am about to send a letter to my neighbor who is not attending to this invasion that is very close to my driveway and seeds disperse more on my property than theirs. I have already paid $4k to have one of these trees removed.
