Hi everyone,
We hope you're all doing well and enjoying your summer time. It's been a while since we were in touch with you. While some of us may have been away for a bit, the work at the gardens hasn't stopped. We are happy to report that the sheet mulching of our Nursery area is now finished and the Cannas are thriving. We've also made progress with solarizing some of the aggressive weeds in the Woodland Walk garden and started to spread wood chips there.
Our gardens received a couple of new additions - we planted a lovely Dahlia 'Labyrinth' which is in the company of the flowering Cannas, and added a few Mapleleaf viburnums in our Woodland Walk where they benefit from the shady conditions surrounded by ferns, wild ginger and Carolina Allspice. Feel free to check out these new plantings next time you visit the gardens.
We recently obtained a fresh delivery of wood chips which will help us continue with our projects (e.g. earlier in the season, we mentioned our desire to re-create the path in the Garden of Possibilities). Finally, the abundant rainfall has also given boost to many weeds, which we will continue to tackle over the coming weeks.
