Introduction to Biological Control - Part 2: Biopesticides
Microbes that act as biocontrol agents against pests are regulated as pesticides by the EPA (one type of biopesticide). This course will cover how to identify biopesticides and their modes of action, as well as best practices for using them correctly and most effectively. In addition to the pre- and post- evaluations, at several points during this course you will also be invited to pause and do something with what you have just learned (e.g., answer a question). These activities are not graded but are included to facilitate your learning and make this online course more interesting.
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain what biological control is.
- Describe the difference between the terms: biocontrol, biopesticide, and biostimulant.
- Recognize whether commercially-available products are biopesticides.
- Understand how biopesticide modes of action impact best practices for using them.
- Describe general best practices for using biopesticides.

To begin, proceed to "Step 1 - Sign the Roster". Then continue with each step to complete the module.
-
Select the "Roster - Introduction to Biological Control - Part 2: Biopesticides" link below to sign the roster. Enter your name, contact information, certification ID number for the state(s) you wish to receive credit for, and your signature. If you are an apprentice, enter the word "Apprentice" in the Certification ID space. Please be sure to select the "Save and View" button to save your entry.
Note that you only need to sign the roster when you begin a new course.
