Welcome to Master Gardener Volunteer Training for Cortland County! We are super excited to have all of you!
Here you will find all of the course content for the training. Every Sunday a section will open up and become available for you to work on in the following week. Assignments and Journal Entries are due every week on Saturday at 11:59 pm.
Every week there will be virtual office hours hosted by Andrew or one of the Master Gardeners. There you can ask questions about that weeks section, what it is like being a MGV or just work on your assignments with someone present.
Once a month we will have in-person activities and trainings that will be primarily located at the CCE office in Cortland, these will be longer and cover materials from the last month. Food will usually be provided, if it is not you will be notified well in advance.
Occasionally there will be special guest presentations from experts in the field and additional trainings offered by the Cortland Master Gardeners. The special guest presentations will be held on zoom and while you are not required to attend them live, you will need to view the recording in order to complete that weeks assignments. Additional trainings are great opportunities to get to know the current Master Gardeners and pick up on some special skills, but they are not required.
Community Action Project Showcases will also be held in person. Although not required, previous online learning will be an asset. Access to a computer or a laptop is heavily suggested.
Requirements for graduation include successful completion of all coursework. Participants must attend all in-person classes. If an absence is required the instructor must me notified at least 2 weeks prior to absence, with the understanding that additional work may be assigned as a result.
